What is 'surge' testing?
Surge testing is COVID-19 testing in the community. It's been organised in Bristol and South Gloucestershire to find out more about the mutated COVID-19 variant, and to reduce the spread of the virus. The idea of community testing is to find people who have the virus, but aren't displaying any symptoms. You should not attend any of the new testing sites if you believe you may have COVID-19.

Do I need to book?
You don't need to book, you can just turn up. There have been queues at some sites so it's best to allow plenty of time.
If you're using a Collect and Drop site, you should return home to complete your test, then drop it back to the same site.
The MTUs are drive-through testing centres.
You can find out more about surge testing on the South Gloucestershire Council website.
