Southmead Hospital Emergency Department Enter and View 2018

Hivewatch undertook the Enter and View visit to Southmead Emergency Department on 11 October 2018 with the aim of assessing the ED experience for people with learning difficulties. The findings of the visit can be found in this report.

Key findings:

  • The department was clean, quiet and not intimidating
  • Staff were committed to understanding learning difficulties and listening to people 
  • Staff requested further training on working with people with learning difficulties

All the recommendations made by the joint Enter and View representatives were implemented within the 20 day response time by the North Bristol Trust, responsible for oversight of Southmead.
