New summit to bring people together to help prevent suicide
People in South Glos are invited to share their thoughts and experiences of suicide prevention.The Suicide Prevention Summit, on January 13 at City Hall in Bristol from 10am-3pm, aims to raise awareness of the reasons people feel they have nowhere to turn. Healthwatch supports this after we found delays in young people getting mental health support.
Our work improving access to GP surgeries and A&E to mark Person's with Disabilities Day
Healthwatch South Glos recruited six people with learning disabilities to work with local charity The Hive to look at how services could improve to make their lives easier. This work is being highlighted to mark this worldwide disability awareness day on December 3.
The 65 and older age group is predicted to grow and will make the largest proportional population increases. The plan is based on data, evidence and consultation, with older people and wider partners, across the area.
The Ageing Better Plan 2019-2023 sets out the guiding principles that all organisations working with older people in South Gloucestershire commit to.
Health and care services in South Gloucestershire are working on a new approach called Better Care South Gloucestershire. The approach focuses on putting individuals, especially the frail and elderly, at the heart of joined-up health and care services and supporting them to live safely and independently in their communities so that they have fewer health crises and fewer admissions to hospital.
