Go Purple to raise awareness of inflammatory bowel conditions

People in South Glos are being encouraged to Go Purple this Friday December 6 – to raise awareness for people with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, affecting more than 300,000 people in the UK.

Yet they are largely hidden diseases, and one that causes stigma, fear and isolation – it’s thought that many people with the condition go undiagnosed and suffer in silence. Healthwatch supports making more patients aware of how they can get help

Crohn's and Colitis UK is the leading charity for people with these conditions and the organisation has plenty of easy to access information to help inform anyone affected, including friends, family, medical professionals and even employers.

If you have any queries about the conditions, contact the charity's information service here https://www.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk/get-involved/awareness-week/go-purple
